This town hall will provide updates and invite feedback on the Arctic Tsunamigenic SLope Instabilities Partnership (Arctic T-SLIP), a National Science Foundation-funded planning project focused on emerging landslide and tsunami hazards in Alaska. These hazards, driven by glacier loss, permafrost thaw, and extreme precipitation, pose growing risks to communities and other people living, working, and traveling in these regions. We’re working towards a co-produced collection of nested proposals to submit to NSF’s large project support mechanism under the Office of Polar Programs. The town hall is intended for researchers, agency staff, and community partners working on geohazards, climate change impacts, early warning systems, and risk communication. We’re especially interested in engaging with people who are interested in being involved in or leading future research and engagement proposals. We will share recent science and engagement activities, outline plans for future research proposals, and gather input on research directions, coordination needs, and collaboration opportunities. This is an opportunity to be part of and help shape an interdisciplinary network that bridges physical science, social science, and community resilience. The session will include brief presentations followed by a roundtable-style discussion.
