The American Geophysical Union disciplines have faced various disruptions affecting exploration, advancement, and knowledge sharing. This session will highlight successful cases from the past, present, and future innovations to overcome such interruptions. It will focus on core data and processes fundamental to each discipline that have helped protect scientific integrity and maintain continuity for the broader benefit of scientists and the public. Examples include the role of science advisory committees, expert-led assessments, and community science endeavors. Strategies will be discussed for institutions’ shifting responsibilities, fostering collaborations across public and private sectors, and advancing local, national and international partnerships for planetary-scale or low Earth orbit endeavors. Additionally, the session will explore how scientific societies are innovating.
