Global change has had a profound impact on urban areas, making it more important than ever for city planners and decision-makers to develop adaptation strategies that improve urban resilience. This session aims to showcase advances in environmental impacts and adaptation research, with a particular focus on urban areas. The session will cover various aspects of urban resiliency, such as socio-economic dynamics, water management, energy efficiency, and transportation. We welcome submissions on topics such as: 1) Assessment of the vulnerability of urban infrastructure to environmental impacts. 2) Advancements in green infrastructure and urban ecosystems for adaptation. 3)Urban heat island impact and mitigation strategies. 4)Impacts on urban water systems due to global change. 4)Approaches to urban transportation planning and design and 5) Population dynamic considerations in urban resiliency planning. We invite presentations that showcase new research findings, as well as case studies that demonstrate successful implementation of adaptation strategies in urban areas.
