Solar Orbiter (SO), VIGIL, and a future Solar Polar mission (highest ranked by the Heliophysics Decadal Survey) all provide new perspectives to explore the Sun. This session will focus on cutting-edge science, developments and the future of solar missions off the Sun-Earth line. SO has just begun it’s “out-of-the-ecliptic” phase, providing unprecedented new glimpses of the Sun's poles. VIGIL's positioning at L5 promises to unlock new science opportunities by providing continuous and unique perspectives of the Sun-Earth system, enabling better forecasting of space weather events. A potential Solar Polar mission was the top recommendation from the decadal survey, and holds transformative potential for heliophysics research. By exploring these missions, including groundbreaking first results from SO, this session aims to inspire discussion on solar processes previously obscured from direct observation, as well as future strategies and technological advancements necessary to propel solar science into a new era of discovery.
