Field-based learning and experiential education are powerful tools for teaching the complexity of water systems and can provide a unique environment for students to develop career- and life-long relationships. By stepping outside the classroom and into the field, whether in rivers, wetlands, or across entire watersheds, students build deeper understanding, systems thinking, and a lasting connection to place. This session highlights educational models that use hands-on learning to explore water in the world, from stream monitoring and rafting the watershed to soil investigations and campus-based projects. We invite contributions that showcase experiential courses, course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs), place-based curricula, and student-led field programs in hydrology. Submissions that support early-career educators, expand access to field learning, or offer practical tools for implementation are especially welcome. This session aims to bring together educators, researchers, and program leaders who believe the best way to learn about water is to get in it.
