Biosphere–atmosphere interactions play a critical role in atmospheric chemistry, air quality, and climate across urban, regional, and global scales. Vegetation influences the exchange of reactive trace gases, greenhouse gases, and aerosols, which in turn interact with meteorology and influence pollutant formation, atmospheric oxidation capacity, and climate feedback. Extreme weather events, such as heat waves, cold fronts, and tropical cyclones, can strongly modulate these exchanges by modifying emissions, chemical reactions, and transport processes. This session focuses on how biosphere-atmosphere exchanges shape atmospheric chemistry and climate under extreme weather conditions. We invite contributions that use field observations, laboratory experiments, remote sensing, or numerical modeling to investigate these processes, with the aim of improving our understanding of their implications for air quality, climate feedback, and environmental resilience.
