The Critical Zone encompasses complex interactions among rock, soil, water, air, and living organisms. Understanding CZ processes requires interdisciplinary approaches and observations across spatial and temporal scales. We welcome studies at individual sites, watershed-scale investigations, network-based research, and presentations that explore linkages between physical, chemical, and biological processes; integrate field data with modeling; or advance understanding of CZ evolution, resilience, and responses to environmental change and disturbances. Interest is given to research on wildfires and their role in reshaping landscapes, altering hydrology, geomorphology, biogeochemical cycles, and influencing ecosystem resilience. Studies on drivers like floods, droughts, climate variability, and land-use change, are encouraged. Submissions from diverse landscapes and socio-environmental contexts and efforts involving novel instrumentation, cross-site comparisons, or synthesis are are welcome. This session aims to highlight the breadth of CZ science and deepen understanding of how the CZ responds to and recovers from a range of natural and anthropogenic disturbances.
