This session focuses on the state-of-the-science in modeling and analyzing regional climate and its impacts across various timescales. We are seeking contributions on coordinated modeling experiments such as CORDEX; new developments in coupled regional Earth system modeling, convection-permitting simulations, and variable resolution approaches; ensemble methods, uncertainty analyses, and innovative approaches for differentiating projection credibility within ensembles. We also welcome studies that compare downscaling methods, particularly those that include dynamical, statistical, and AI/ML-based approaches, and explore their strengths, limitations, and applications across sectors. Additionally, we are interested in innovative methods for evaluating models, including new metrics and techniques that link model skill to the reliability of regional climate projections for decision-making. Insights from regional models on Earth system and coupled human-Earth system processes, IPCC scenario downscaling, and applications for understanding climate impacts are also encouraged.
