Like many Small-Island States along the tropical belt, the Caribbean region remains especially vulnerable to increased likelihoods of hazards and impacts in a changing climate. The Caribbean faces rising sea levels, marine heatwaves, increases in the number of the most intense tropical cyclones, and strong variability in extreme rainfall and drought events. The aim of this session is to provide a holistic survey of changes and impacts to the Caribbean’s biosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and more, while providing a worthwhile discussion of solutions to tackle the Caribbean’s ongoing and mounting vulnerability to climate change. Therefore, we not only invite presentations with a focus on climate change projections for the region, but presentations with a perspective on climate change impacts to Caribbean livelihood and infrastructure.
