The ongoing impacts of hydrologic extremes, such as floods, droughts, and compound events, pose growing challenges for communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems. These challenges are further compounded by aging infrastructure, evolving societal needs, and the ongoing difficulty of integrating scientific advances into operational decision-making. This session highlights interdisciplinary efforts aimed at bridge the gap between cutting-edge hydrometeorological research and real-world water resource applications. We welcome contributions that demonstrate both methodological innovation and practical application, including but not limited to, probabilistic forecasting, data assimilation, artificial intelligence, physics-based modeling, and risk-informed decision-making. Of particular interest are studies that emphasize collaborative development of tools with end users, effective communication of uncertainty, and successful transitions from research to operations (R2O). By convening scientists, engineers, practitioners, and policy experts, the session seeks to showcase integrated, stakeholder-informed approaches that strengthen system resilience, support adaptive and risk-informed water management, and enhance preparedness for hydrologic extremes.
