Aquatic ecosystems, from headwater rivers to lakes, deltas, and estuaries, are naturally dynamic systems shaped and characterized by biophysical processes. Understanding interactions among hydraulic, ecological, and geomorphic processes in natural and managed fluvial environments has become urgent for balancing societal water resource needs in a changing climate. This session focuses on the ecohydraulics and ecomorphodynamics of riverine and estuarine systems across various geographic regions to inform science and management efforts. We invite presentations on topics including, but not limited to, fluvial hydrodynamics and geomorphic impacts of vegetation; organism-habitat interactions; ecosystem restoration; flow-biota interactions on nutrient, sediment, and pollutant transport; ecosystem response to natural and anthropogenic disturbances; natural infrastructure as a critical component of hazard mitigation and climate resilience. We encourage submissions that bridge spatial and temporal scales, promote integration across field, numerical, and laboratory approaches, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange in the spirit of “Where Science Connects Us”.
