The history of Earth's surface is written by sediment that erodes from hillslopes and deposits in sedimentary basins. Sedimentary landscape dynamics dictate the physical structure of the stratigraphic record, and the radioisotopes preserved in the rocks reflect the transfer of mass across the Earth's surface. Stratigraphic records integrated with geochronometers and thermochronometers reveal the rate, tempo, and timing of events in the geologic past. Contributions to this session will sharpen our understanding of Earth's tectonic, climatic, and biologic history, and the erosional and depositional dynamics that shape its surface.
