Preparing the existing and future workforce to address climate change is an essential and often overlooked component of implementing climate solutions. Understanding workforce needs is necessary to transition to a low carbon economy and build resilient communities. Creating a climate workforce requires a shared understanding of training needs, including: What skills and competencies do people need to effectively implement climate solutions? How can existing jobs be modified to address climate goals? What competencies can prepare individuals for careers in emerging industries and sectors? And, how can we ensure that training creates opportunities for all workers? This session aims to explore these questions across the spectrum of workforce development, from career identification in middle school to on-the-job training for the current workforce. We invite submissions on climate workforce research, and training program design and implementation from all sectors and disciplines.
