The core is its least understood region of the planet, characterized by extreme conditions, complex chemistry, and dynamics. However, understanding the structure, composition, material properties, dynamical processes, and evolution of the core and its boundaries is crucial for understanding planet formation, geomagnetic field generation, habitability, and more. By integrating seismic imaging, improved spatial and temporal constraints on dynamo models, laboratory experiments examining material properties and fluid dynamics, and simulation of complex conditions and dynamics, we continue to gain knowledge of planetary cores. This session invites contributions that investigate the structure, compositions, dynamics, and evolution of Earth’s and other terrestrial planetary cores. Topics of particular interest are mantle-core exchange and coupling, metal-silicate partitioning, geochemical phase relations, outer core processes and stratification, inner core composition and crystallization. We hope to attract interdisciplinary abstracts spanning seismology, mineral physics, geochemistry, paleo- and geomagnetism, gravity, geodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
