Artists, scientists, and art-science (or ArtSci) practitioners translate everyday abstractions into knowledge and expressions that help us understand the world around us. The synthesis of art and science can lead to improved communication. The integration of art with the scientific process can yield interdisciplinary methodologies and foster collaborations among diverse groups to effectively address societal challenges. ArtSci can convey the urgency of a multitude of issues including environmental degradation, resource scarcity, pollution, and climate change, and promote sustainable pathways that are both imaginative and inclusive. This session welcomes work from scientists, artists, ArtSci practitioners, designers, and creators who integrate art and science. We encourage abstracts about collaborations between artists and scientists throughout a project, visions for possible futures for ArtSci, and narratives that come from and center on communities historically marginalized in art and science spaces. We especially encourage submissions that relate to, highlight, or support Indigenous knowledge and communities.
