Across the national and global economy– from managing supply chain networks and distribution centers, to building the facilities that allows for production of goods, to insuring business and property owners– American industry relies on environmental information for planning, operational readiness, and efficiency. The federal government, along with its private and public sector partners, provides data that allows companies and communities to plan future development, protect their personnel and assets during major weather events, and develop infrastructure that is built to last through changing weather patterns in each region of the country. Convening members of industry who use environmental data in their day-to-day operations, this session will focus on how the private sector– from large industries with major analytics capabilities to small business and local organizations who need easily digestible decision-making tools– relies on critical public data for planning and preparedness.
