Parker Solar Probe has successfully completed three of its closest solar encounters tracing its primary science orbit down to a height of 9.86 solar radii from the center of the Sun. Observations from these orbits have opened up new investigations into the acceleration and heating of the solar wind and coronal plasma, acceleration and transport of energetic particles, and early stages of solar wind transients. They have also revealed processes governing the innermost regions of the Heliosphere explored to date below the Alfvénic critical point, crucial to the understanding of the evolution of the Sun’s extended atmosphere. This session aims to showcase these newest observations and discuss their implications of our understanding of our star, its atmosphere, and consequences to space weather at Earth and beyond.
