Extreme heat, air pollution (e.g., PM2.5, O3 related), and greenhouse gas emissions are intensifying worldwide, driven by factors ranging from climate change, urban development to the oil and natural gas supply chain. Each of these stressors poses serious risks to human health, and ecosystems, and in some cases, they interact to amplify impacts. This session brings together interdisciplinary research to examine these challenges individually or in combination, across diverse geographic and sectoral contexts. We invite studies that: (1) quantify spatial and temporal patterns or feedback among heat, pollution, and GHGs; (2) assess health or environmental impacts using observational, modeling, or machine learning approaches; and (3) evaluate mitigation strategies—such as clean energy transitions, emissions reductions, and nature-based solutions—considering co-benefits and trade-offs. We especially welcome research that engages communities, centers equity, or informs policy to reduce heat exposure, improve air quality, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
