Research at the intersection of climate, weather and health is a rapidly growing field. While this research enables creative methodologies to address unique problems, effectively combining data from disparate fields remains challenging. This session aims to explore effective strategies for using environmental data in health applications. Potential topics include evaluating datasets and metrics designed for health-related analyses; applying and optimizing downscaling and bias correction methods; integrating environmental and health data across varying spatial and temporal scales; operationalizing real-time data sources such as weather forecasts for health applications; improving healthcare planning and response through environmental data insights; enhancing disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts; and broadly sharing best practices for leveraging environmental information within the health sector. We warmly invite researchers and practitioners from atmospheric science, environmental health, epidemiology, veterinary science, healthcare, disaster management, and other fields interested in advancing the interdisciplinary potential of climate/weather and health data integration.
