Compound climate-related events (CCE) arise when climate or weather drivers and/or hazards interact, either concurrently or sequentially, to amplify societal and environmental impacts. Despite their growing relevance under a changing climate, no dedicated datasets currently exist, limiting our ability to test hypotheses about their causes and consequences. This session will present methodological advances and case studies to explore: *Data needs and progress in identifying, cataloguing, and characterizing CCE. *Machine learning and AI methods for extracting CCE information from observations, models, reanalysis, and literature. *Causal inference techniques to examine how interactions among drivers (e.g., precipitation, wind, soil moisture) generate extreme hazards.* Statistical and physical frameworks for assessing and quantifying impacts.*Implications for forecasting and risk assessment, including integration into early-warning systems and adaptation planning. By convening multidisciplinary scientists, we aim to accelerate the development of open, interoperable CCE databases and to refine the statistical and physical frameworks needed for robust hypothesis testing.
