The communication of science includes the efforts of scientists, communications professionals, communities, and teams to communicate the process and values of science and scientific findings with non-specialist audiences outside formal educational settings. The goals of science communication are varied, including listening, sharing knowledge, enhancing dialogue, awareness, enthusiasm, improving decision making, or influencing behaviors. Science communication channels include in-person, online, social media, mass media, and others. We invite presentations by individuals and teams on science communication practice, research, and reflection, addressing questions such as: What science communication efforts are you engaging in and how? How is social science informing audiences, strategies, or effects of science communication? What are lessons learned from long-term science communication efforts? This session, run at both AGU and EGU, invites you to share your work and join a community of practice to inform and advance the effective communication of earth and space science.
