Generic 'disconnected' Message
Primary Convener:
Kripa Akila Jagannathan, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Climate and Ecosystem Sciences Division

As communities across the world increasingly face the rapid advent of environmental impacts, there is an urgent need for science-based actions and solutions. AGU's Science and Society (SY) section works to grow a community within AGU that actively facilitates stronger connections between scientists and societal partners, and supports the development of societally-relevant knowledge to benefit humanity. In this panel, the audience will learn about SY's goals and activities under 5 key thematic areas - Science Policy, Community & Citizen Science, Science Communication, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Arts and Sciences. Panelists, representing leaders in Science-Society relevant topics, will share opportunities and challenges of working in Science-Society related topics and discuss ways to advance transdisciplinary collaborations across the geosciences. The panel will include time for audience Q&A and engagement, so that broader AGU attendees can provide feedback on how SY's activities can help to bridge the science-society gap across AGU sections.
