Primary Convener:
Erik Hankin, American Geophysical Union

Facilitator:
David Keith, University of Chicago

Join us to learn more about the University of Chicago’s Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth and one of its key pillars, the Climate Systems Engineering initiative (CSEi). Together, the Institute and CSEi are fostering global discussions on how to balance the risks of a warming climate with the essential need for human progress.

CSEi fuses insights from climate science and systems engineering to explore three main areas: sunlight reflection methods (SRM), open-systems carbon removal, and local interventions to slow glacial melt.

This session, led by CSEi Founding Faculty Director David Keith, will provide an overview of the Institute’s and CSEi’s priorities and ongoing work. Keith will also discuss current job opportunities, including assistant professor positions in climate systems engineering and climate politics, as well as postdoctoral roles in areas such as AI weather forecasting, glacial systems engineering, the Climate Impact Lab, and more.

Whether you are a student, early-career scientist, established researcher, or industry partner, we invite you to engage with us.
